The West Midlands of England as we know it today was borne out of an industrial age and forged as the great powerhouse of the British Empire, with the city of Birmingham at its heart. Although those days are in the past, the incredible industriousness of the city remains and it is considered one of the best places for companies to locate. An excellent central location in the country helps but it is the strong basis in business, finance and leisure which gives rise to a huge array of outstanding Birmingham venues, more than fit for any purpose demanded of them. From music and the arts, celebrations and weddings, and business meetings, exhibitions and conferences, there are few places in the UK as well equipped.

Birmingham is enjoying something of a renaissance as a city. The developments of the 50s and 60s gave a new face to the ancient and famous city landmark of the Bull Ring marketplace as well as other notable structures such as New Street Station but in recent years massive redevelopments have restored much of the city's historic appeal.
This is seen through beautiful new landmarks such as Millennium Place and Centenary Square and a complete regeneration of some of the historic buildings, streets and canals. The Bull Ring has also been given a new lease of life once again and has become the busiest shopping centre in the UK.
What this means for those looking to find ideal Birmingham venues is that there are a great many to choose from, in every style, location and character. Many of the new developments and existing historical structures make for excellent visual backdrops to weddings and special celebrations.

The city's historic hotels in particular have a long history in hosting weddings and will have stunning ballrooms and other stylish function spaces which suit the sense of occasion perfectly. Wedding packages are often available too, where catering and other aspects such as flowers, decorations, and entertainment may be included.
The elegant historic appeal of many Birmingham venues is ideally suited for business meetings and conferences too, adding a touch of class and sophistication to the proceedings. Style is not the sole preserve of history however and there are terrific modern hotels which are specifically designed to cater for the needs of business travellers. In the guest rooms they will find dedicated work spaces with internet connections, direct dial telephones and other contemporary features and facilities.

These hotels will also likely have a selection of meeting spaces, equipped with all the latest technologies for audio visual presentations, and often business centres with office equipment and corporate services available.
Birmingham has long been a major conferencing city with international venues such as the massive and multi-faceted Indoor National Arena and the city infrastructure is set up well for the great many conference delegates who appreciate convenient transport and travel, boundless accommodation options and the limitless social and leisure aspects of the city.
Birmingham is a very lively city with an abundance of bars, restaurants and clubs to suit every taste. There are plenty of cultural options too in the form of museums, art galleries and concert halls. Lovers of music and the arts will have their own favourite Birmingham venues.

Some of those pubs and clubs make great Birmingham venues too, particularly for wedding receptions. A private function room is generally used for the purpose and will likely have its own music system and DJ which can be used for the event. Other venues are associated with the city’s three universities and they will have a range of venues available for a variety of purposes.
